A Sprint To The Finish: Game 56

I know this game should have gutted me, but It’s not that bad. Sure the loss stings, but I expected to lose this game. It was a bullpen game. The bullpen is awful, and I expected them to blow it. I didn’t expect Nola and Wheeler to blow their respective games. How did this happen? Let’s dive In and discuss!

While we didn’t get the final result we wanted, It was nice to see the offense bounce back. Maybe it can put us back on track offensively. We were able to score seven runs on eleven hits. Has there been any bigger surprise than Andrew Knapp? He’s batting .333 for the season and went 1-4 with an RBI single. In a season of disappointments, Andrew hasn’t been one of them.

How bout a Roman Quinn sighting on offense? He went 1-2 with an RBI Single. I wouldn’t get too used to it, probably the last of the season for Roman. Here comes Scotty Jet Packs! He went 1-3 with a solo home run. He’s had a pretty up and down season, so It’s nice to see him succeed.

Didi is going get paid this offseason, and I pray It’s by us. He went 2-5 with a two-run RBI double. It was nice to see J.T. bounce back from his injury. He went 2-5 with an RBI double. Also, resign J.T.! There was also a run scored on a fielding error. It wasn’t an awful offensive showing you only need a tad more consistency.

It was an up and down game from the pen. David Hale, Adam Morgan, Hector Neris, and Tommy Hunter did their jobs. They allowed two hits, two walks, and struck out seven batters in 6.1 innings of work. Great work, right? Too bad the rest of the pen couldn’t keep it together. David Phelps, Jojo Romero, and Brandon Workman laid an egg. They allowed seven runs on seven hits, with one walk and one strikeout. Maybe the pen can hold it together for a few more games as The Sprint To The Finish rages on!
