What a difference a day makes! Who in their right mind expected us to sweep the doubleheader? Cause I didn’t! Way to surprise me, Phillies! How did it happen? Let’s dive in and discuss!
The offense is starting to catch fire. It’s now four straight games where we have scored four or more runs. We are averaging 5.33 runs per game for the season. During the doubleheader, we scored fifteen runs on eighteen hits. Didi Gregorius continues to put his stamp on this team. He has been the best asset of the offseason other than Zach Wheeler. He went 4-7 with Two RBI’s and a walk.
Bryce Is back! He went 4-6 with a solo home run, an RBI double, and two walks. In his last ten games, he’s averaging .343, with four home runs, seven RBI’s, and seven walks. Welcome back, Bryce!
You also had a stellar game from Moose! Phil went 2-4 with an RBI single. Mickey Moniak had his first major league hit as he went 1-5 with two walks. McCutchen helped as well as he went 1-6 with a solo home run and two walks. Andrew Knapp has to be the best back up catcher in baseball by this point. He went 1-4 with a two-run RBI triple.
He’s batting .302 he was batting .213 the season before. How bout Marchan? Rafael Marchan had himself a game! He went 2-3 with a three-run home run. Alec Bohm is my rookie of the year. All this kid does is deliver in crunch time. Bohm averaged .389, with two home runs, eleven RBI’s, and five walks over the last fifteen games. I support the youth movement!
Zach Eflin pitched his butt off. What more could you have done if you were Zach? It’s why people are so tough, on him, he has all the potential in the world. He allowed only four hits, with two walks, and struck out nine batters in seven innings of work. Keep up the great work, Zach!
The bullpen continues to be a laughing stock. How we were able to make it through the second game, yet still somehow were able to win, is beyond me. David Hale, Heath Hembree, David Phelps, and Jojo Romero gave up five runs on seven hits, with one strikeout through 4.2 innings of work. We were somehow able to finish strong. Brogdon and Neris allowed only one hit while walking four and striking out two batters. At this point, whatever happens, happens with this bullpen. So just sit back and relax as The Sprint To The Finish rages on!
