It would appear we are going on a run! What type of run we are going on remains to be seen. We have a chance to gain some ground in the race for first place. Let’s discuss and see if we can do it!
This Phillies team has spoiled us in terms of offense. We are so used to them scoring five or more runs a game, that we are disappointed when they don’t. We had a good enough offensive game despite all that. We scored four runs on seven hits. Rhys Hoskins’s revenge tour is never-ending! He went 3-4 with a three-run home run. If not for a bounce on top of the fence, he would have had two home runs. Over the last 18 games, he’s batting .292, has four home runs, twelve RBI’s, eleven walks, and one stolen base. Bryce also continued his success at the plate as he drove in an RBI on a sacrifice fly. McCutchen continues his come back tour as he went 2-4. Over the last seventeen games, he’s batting .333, with three home runs, sixteen RBI’s, four walks, and three stolen bases. If we are going to continue this run, we’ll need this type of production from Hoskins and McCutchen.
Eflin continues his success carried over from his last start. That curveball of his has been doing Its job. It’ll be a real weapon if we can continue to work on it. Over the past two games, he’s allowed only four runs on ten hits, while walking three, and striking out sixteen batters. If Eflin can contribute consistently, then you are looking at a much-improved starting rotation.
The bullpen continues to be much improved. Hector Neris and Brandon Workman combined for one hit, one walk, and one strikeout through two innings of work. Over the last five games, the pen has allowed five runs on fourteen hits, seven walks, and sixteen strikeouts through 14.9 innings of work. Here’s hoping we can find more success as The Sprint To The Finish rages on.
