Some Thoughts…

-Trayvon Martin

-Tamir Rice

-Sandra Bland

-Mike Brown

-Freddie Gray

-Ahmaud Arbery

-Philando Castile

-Breonna Taylor

-George Floyd

-Jacob Blake

These are just a few names of many who have been the victims of racial injustices in the United States. Whether law enforcement, neighborhood watchmen or neighbors in general, these men, women, and children have all been killed. The fact that I even have to write this in 2020 is mind boggling. How have we not progressed pass the hatred and racism that has plagued this nation for over 400 years?

I am a 20 year old African American male. At first, me seeing these things almost every other month on social media and news channels hurt. However, now that pain and hurt has been replaced with anger and a bit of numbness. I don’t understand why these things keep happening. Like Doc Rivers said on last Tuesday evening, “We keep loving this country and this country doesn’t love us back.”

It’s unfair, it’s angering, it’s depressing for these things to keep happening and yet nothing happens to the people who have perpetrated these despicable acts. How is it possible that a country whose pledge of allegiance states “One nation under God with liberty and JUSTICE FOR ALL“, continue to allow these things to happen without punishing those responsible?

We here at Philly Blitz unequivocally condemn these racist acts and we stand with the Black Lives Matter Movement. As a country we have to unify and remove hate and insert equality and unity. The racism that has been immersed in this country’s DNA since its inception has to be eradicated in order to move forward as one.

BLACK LIVES MATTER.
