This game made me want to put my fist through a wall. I literally had to control myself to finish watching. Even as i type this up im angerly smashing the keys. Here’s hoping i dont break my labtop as i try to type this !!!!! Where in the hell do i even begin?
Nola. Nola like Wheeler was wheeling and dealing minus that hanging curve of his. It was a massive improvement from his previous game. If this is the Nola we are getting for the rest of the season then we are good to go. However i can do without the Cole Hamels run support. Regardless, Nola was a monster in this game. In 6 innings he gave up 3 hits, 1 run, and struck out 12 batters. If there was ever a game for you to lose your temper over a loss it would be this one.
How was the offense? Pitiful. I would have put J.T. back in the game to give us a bit more offense. Sadly that didn’t happen. You got 3 hits and 1 run through 6 innings. The worst part of that being the only sense of run support you got was from Andrew Knapp of all people. Now let’s get depressed !
This bullpen is a embarassment. In 6 games this season the bullpen is averaging a 9.18 ERA, has a opponent batting average of .388 and is ranking dead last in the league. The only two people who have given you anything so far is Adam Morgan and Hector Neris who have given up 0 hits, 0 runs, has a 0 ERA and has 1 saved game between them. Tommy Hunter was expected to be one of the guys who Girardi could trust. but that hasn’t turned out that way. Through 3 games he’s given up 2 runs, 5 hits, struck out two batter and walked one. To make matters worse he has a ERA of 9.00.
I get Joe not wanting to over use Nola. He’s your ace and i get wanting to save him, the not using Neris thing doesn’t fly with me. He threw one pitch in game one, there is no reason why he wasn’t in this game. In the future the only guys I wanna see is Morgan or Neris. I’m willing to give Joe the benefit of the doubt despite me second guessing him. He hasn’t had the proper off-season to gage his pitchers and I hope this will be a lesson that serves him well. After a massive fail to end the double header, we head to the series finale against the Yanks with the hope of tying up the series before we face off against the Braves. Let’s hope we can get back on track as The Sprint To The Finish rages on !!!
