A Sprint To The Finish: Game 52

Could we be streaking? Could we be building momentum? Is this the start of something? Who knows! How did we win our third straight game? Let’s dive in and discuss!

With few remaining games, you need this offense to step up. Yes, there are injuries, but you need them to deliver. You will need your offense to be able to score three to six runs a game to get us into the postseason. We just so happen to score three runs on nine hits. I love watching Andrew McCutchen. He plays with heart and passion. Our team was missing him dearly when he went down last year. He went 1-3 with an RBI single and two walks.

Are we starting to undersell Andrew Knapp? Sure, I know we’ve made fun of him in the past, but he has been stepping up! He went 2-3 with an RBI single and a walk. He’s averaging .321 on the season. Adam Haseley is a run-scoring machine! He went 2-4 with an RBI single. He’s also had ten RBI’s in his last ten games. Along with that, he’s averaging .400 during that stretch. You’ve needed guys to step up as of late, and Haseley has been one of those guys.

Vince Velasquez was money. Everything was working for him. Not to mention you got him to go longer than five innings. Vince’s issues have always been controlling the strike zone and being consistent. Maybe he can get something going in the remaining games? It’ll be pretty to top a game like this. He allowed only one run on two hits, with three walks and six strikeouts in six innings of work.

Stellar game by the bullpen. I know we always make fun of these guys, but you have to give them respect when they step up. They stepped up big in the clutch. They went three innings and allowed zero hits and struck out three batters. Who knows, maybe the pen can step up and deliver in these final eight games? We’ll find out as The Sprint To The Finish rages on!
