A Sprint To The Finish: Game 43

A game like this was the exact type of bounce-back game we needed. When your neck and neck with a team like The Marlins, you can’t afford to make mistakes. You needed a game to get the offense back on track. How were we able to do It? Let’s dive in and discuss!

We’ll need more games like this if we are going to make the playoffs. The offense is this team’s bread and butter. You’ll have to rely on It as we get closer to the end of the season. We scored twelve runs on thirteen hits. Didi Gregorius continues to be the best offensive acquisition of the 2020 season for the Phillies. He went 2-4 with a Grand Slam and a walk. He has to be one of the first guys to be resigned once the offseason happens.

Bryce is back! He went 3-4 with two walks and a Home Run! If you want to make the playoffs, you’ll need Bryce to get hot in the remainder of the games. Jean Segura lent the offense a hand as he went 2-5 with an RBI single. I feel like a proud father every time I watch Alec Bohm! Bohm went 2-5 and had an RBI double! In his last seven games, he’s averaging .466, with 8 RBI’s and a walk. If I had a vote, he’d be my rookie of the year.

Adam Haseley is streaking, and I love it. He was 2-3 with two walks and an RBI. In his last four games, he’s averaging.545, with five RBI’s and two walks. I Dub him, Mr. Marlin. The biggest shock? Kyle Garlick. Garlick went 1-5 with a three-run RBI double. We’ll need all the help we can get with Hoskins and Realmuto hurt.

Spencer Howard looked decent until he went down with an injury. One can only hope he’s not out for long. I’m not sure how many bullpen games we can handle. In the 3.2 innings of work he pitched, he allowed three runs on two hits, with two walks and five strikeouts. Hopefully, Howard will be back before we know It!

The bullpen was decent. You had a pretty big lead, to begin with, and the runs they did allow wasn’t enough to hurt them. With a bullpen like this, all you can hope for is the win. In 5.1 innings of work, they allowed two earned runs on eight hits, with one walk and three strikeouts.
